During the old days, Philippines is really known for the conservativity of its people. It was already shown through the kind of clothes that people wear those days— especially for the Filipinas. Filipino ladies are known for being a Maria Clara for wearing Baro’t Saya, while the Filipino gentlemen wore Barong Tagalog. Barong Tagalog is the Filipino National Custume for men. It is used as their upper garment, and to partner this, they also wore a traditional salakot as their hats. Baro’t Saya is the Filipino National Custume for women. The upper blouse that they use is called Baro, while their long skirt is called saya. Baro’t Saya is used as their casual or everyday attire. A Maria Clara dress or Filipiniana is elegant formal attire for women. These days, these National Customes are often only wore during Buwan ng Wika, every August, and also during Formal Events like Weddings (usually Barong).

Back in the days, when there was still no technology and internet, gentlemen perform Harana when they want to court a woman, they go to the woman’s house under the starry night just to serenade her, giving her gifts and singing her love songs, usually, they are accompanied with their friends. They do this with the use of instruments, commonly, a guitar.

Poetry and Lyricism are important in Harana, it adds creativity and romance in the act. Serenading is truly a great way to enter a woman’s heart. This shows how the past gentlemen unveil their efforts towards the woman they admire the most in a more respectful manner. Though these days, serenading is not that much practiced— but not completely gone—due to modernisation, it is still an important part of our culture that needs to be revived.

Life without Technology Most of the Philippine Traditional games are often creative and different from those of the other countries. It depicts how beautiful our tradition is. Due to the limited source of toys during the old days, the creativity of Filipino people lead them to creat a game that doesn’t need so much resources but the players or children themselves. They also use something that is just seen around their sorroundings. These shows how inventive, experimental, and clever, Filipinos are. Before internet was introduced here in our country, when afternoon arrives, the children are gradually coming out of their homes to play these games with their friends. These games helped to build friendship, sportmanship, and good health to the youths. These Traditional Games became their life before technology came.
